Lookalikes

I was watching The Princess Frog for a second time recently and I came to the exact same conclusion that I did the first time around when I saw the film on screen.  It took all of two seconds for me to know exactly who Dr. Facilier, The Shadow Man, reminded me of ... Joe Jackson

Just sayin...

Logo: Minnesota Wild

Clearly, posting about Cal Clutterbuck (haha, love it!) got me thinking about the Wild and I've got to say that I just love their logo.  I went to the team's Wikipedia page and this is what it says:

"The multi-functional primary logo of the "Wild Animal" has been met with both praise and criticism. The logo is an optical illusion that depicts both an environmental landscape and the silhouette of a wild animal.

The questions surrounding the identity of the animal depicted, has sparked debate amongst logo enthusiasts, earning it recognition as one of the best logos in sport according to The Good Point. Some feel as though the form of the animal on the logo is that of a wild cat, while the majority view it to be a bear. The hidden components of the logo, the eye depicts the North Star which pays homage to the former Minnesota North Stars, the mouth resembles a river, the ear is the moon, and the pine trees add texture to the 'wild animal'."

From a design standpoint it's pretty cool that they were able to incorporate so much into a single logo without it looking cluttered.  The only problem is that red and green aren't the best colours for a team's uniform and they don't look that great on the ice.  Nevertheless, having spent quite a bit of time in Minnesota, I must say that the wilderness feel of the logo fits the team and the state just right.

Awesome Name Award: Cal Clutterbuck

Since my last post was all about football, I figure that my other favourite sport should get some attention - hockey.  Duh, right.

Well, there is a hockey player who deserves accolades simply for being born and given a great name.

Cal Clutterbuck.

Seriously, do names get any better than this?

FYI, he is a player with the Minnesota Wild.
